Anne Sheldon

Clinical Psychologist, B PsySc (Hons), MPsychClin

I am a clinical psychologist based in Brisbane, Australia.

I have completed a Bachelors of Psychological Science (honours) and a Masters of Clinical Psychology from the University of Queensland.

I have over 9 years experience working across a range of clinical settings including a not for profit service working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, an in-patient psychiatric service, community mental health services and private practice.

As a therapist, I am warm, relaxed and genuinely curious.  My approach is rooted in acceptance and self-compassion. I recognize that each person's path is unique, and therefore I strive to work collaboratively to understand what is at the core in order to effectively resolve challenges in a sustainable and long-lasting manner.

I have a specific interest in working with individuals who have endured acute and complex traumatic events. Through a trauma-informed lens, I aim to create a safe and validating space where client's can explore and process their experiences at their own pace. I believe by addressing the complex interplay of trauma and the broader context of people's lives, we can empower and help reclaim back agency, and restore a sense of safety and connection.

By considering the unique cultural backgrounds, historical experiences, and social context of our experiences, I aim to create a inclusive space where diverse perspectives are valued and respected.

I am also commitment to ongoing learning and professional development which ensures that I remain informed, allowing me to continually refine and enhance my skills as a practitioner.
