I use an integrative and collaborative approach to treatment, where therapy is tailored to the individual and their specific needs. Initially therapy will involve a period of assessment and gathering some history to get to know you, before we develop a plan to meet your therapy goals.
The therapies I practice are validated by scientific research, and I am heavily informed by the neurobiology of attachment and trauma. I use a combination of "Top-down" and "Bottom-up" therapies, as long lasting change typically requires both a change in how we think, as well as how we feel in our bodies. Top-down therapies, also known as cognitive or insight-oriented therapies, focus on thoughts, beliefs, and cognitive processes. Bottom-up therapies, also known as somatic or body-oriented therapies, emphasize the role of bodily sensations, emotions, and physiological processes in psychological well-being and healing.
Some therapies that I utilise include:
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Therapies to address structural dissociation/ Parts work
Dialectical Behavioural-informed skills training (DBT)
Schema Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance & Comittment Therapy (ACT)
